Westat India welcomes Andy Bhanot, MBA, to the staff as Regional Director—South Asia. Mr. Bhanot has extensive communications and marketing research experience in both the private and development sectors. He has worked with leading advertising, market research, and media organisations across 15 countries in Asia and Africa.
Mr. Bhanot's areas of expertise include market research analysis and strategy formulation, leadership and team management, business development, and project management.
Mr. Bhanot is well versed in both quantitative and qualitative research methods. He has directed large national surveys, telephone interviews, rapid feedback studies, focus group discussions, in-depth and key informant interviews, observations, participatory rural appraisals, and ethnographic immersions with urban and rural audiences.
Prior to joining Westat, Mr. Bhanot was Head of Research for South Asia, with BBC World Service Trust (WST). He was responsible for managing and overseeing the implementation of formative, pretesting, monitoring, and summative research for BBC WST's developmental projects in India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan, and Afghanistan.
For Consumer Insight Africa, Mr. Bhanot served as Managing Director, where he was responsible for revenue and profit growth management of business operations in East Africa–overseeing business, finance, human resources, administration, and corporate strategy functions. He also provided technical support to company's operations in Nigeria and South Africa, and ensured the technical quality of all proposals, research output, and reports to clients.
Mr. Bhanot also served as Research Director at MMRD Research Services Ltd. in Myanmar (Burma).
Mr. Bhanot lives with his family in New Delhi. His wife works with the Reserve Bank of India, and his children (son and daughter) study in New Delhi.
